HUNTLEY – Ron Hein of Worden drills Coors Barley seed into “disced up sugar beets.” Farmers were unable to harvest many acres of sugar beets last fall due to wet fields and cold weather. Hein said, because of the remaining beet residue left in the fields, he’s seeding a little heavier than usual. Coors Barley contracts with farmers are lower this year due to decreased beer consumption during the recession. Barley seed is higher, he said. (Robison photo)
